The St. Maurus Chemchemi Secondary School with its more than 1200 students is situated 66 Km from the Monastery. All religions are welcome
At the Monastery there is a small but efficient Government recognised training school with more than 60 students, which trains electricians and mechanics
Teacher training college
This school prepares the teachers of tomorrow. This school, with some 150 students, is one of the Country’s centres of excellence. All the subjects offered at the Monastery’s schools are taught by teachers, including some monks and some lay teachers that receive ongoing, continuous training throughout their professional teaching careers
MONK TRAINING CENTRE
The Monk training centre hosts and prepares prospective monks and priests via a training programme that covers cultural, spiritual, human and pastoral aspects. Watch the video.
ST. CAMILIUS DISPENSARY
The Monastery also houses a healthcare dispensary, a medical testing laboratory, labour wards and a birthing ward.
On the land surrounding the Monastery we cultivate agricultural produce to feed our community and to help the needy.
At Mvimwa we offer hospitality to anyone who wants to come and visit us. We display charity and provide hospitality in accordance with St. Benedict’s rule RB 53. We serve our guests with simplicity, helpfulness and openness.
